Southern Africa Infrastructure Development & Optimisation Conference

InfrastructureOvercoming the shortcomings that exist in infrastructure development in Southern Africa

Why Should You Attend?

The first annual SAIDOC 2011 will feature finding the link between infrastructure and growth plaguing the Southern African region and project the way forward in Public Private Partnership Programmes in the SADC region.  South Africa is facing many challenges to improve infrastructure for economic development and municipal service delivery.  To ensure an increase of access to services for South Africans, Public Infrastructure Programmes are being implemented. Despite the efforts from government, there is still a backlog of municipal infrastructure development in certain communities (source:etu.org.za). This can evidently be seen in many SADC countries trying to meet the Millennium Development Goals (MDG 2020) in order to be classified as an infrastructure and economically balanced nation. Infrastructure on the other hand has to do with roads, water, electricity, health services e.t.c.

Major Drivers and Insights at this Conference Includes:

•    Stir developmental duties to the right path to structure and manage infrastructure development in the local governments
•    Addressing municipal funding model and how it affects the national economic picture
•    Develop a capacity building process to sustain economic growth for available infrastructure
•    Evaluating situational analysis to determine level of development and priorities
•    Foreseeing social and economic issues before hand to prevent public unrest and interruption to infrastructure programmes
•    And lots more...
